Chapter 1
MoonBeam and her brother WingSpan sat in the grassy fields of the valley Tulugonantha. MoonBeam was up in a tree with a piece of string dangling down to the soft earth. She was giggling as she imagined tiny humans struggling to climb it, Such Cowards! she thought contentivley. WingSpan sat at the bottom of the trunk reading. Then, the ground started vibrating under him. Oh! He closed his book and motioned to MoonBeam. What Wingy? he ignored the insult and continued. They are coming! Hurry! I want a ride on Pittang, and I assume you would like to ride blossom! he said in a matter-of-fact-voice. Her face lit up. She tied the crimson string to the branch and leaped down, her wings breaking her fall. Hurry! He waved his arms as pink and gold-black figures whooshing in from the horizon. A large dragon with massive talons looked mightier and more majestic than any eagle and a pinkish unicorn seemed to fly on the lush grass. Both children embraced each other as they stopped majestically in front of them. WingSpan, MoonRay! they said in unison. Hello my small fairy-flies! The youthful man on the unicorn said. Then the youthful woman on the dragon sang out happily, We have to go, sorry! See ya at the festival! They again took off into the trees. Festival! WingSpan chided. He grabbed MoonBeam an flew into the sky. WingSpan! she gasped. We have to get ready! WingSpan chided again. Below them lie a river and flowing hills. When they finally got to there house. They immanently bolt inside and looked hopefully up at their mother. Oh mother! May we go to the festival! her face grew bitter. No! Go to your rooms until dinner you goats! They sighed and started up the steps. When in the large hallway WingSpan stopped them. I have a plan, trust me Beamy!
Chapter 2
MoonBeam and WingSpan tried not to seem as if they were not up to anything and asked to be excused. Their mother and father seemed sad. I am so sorry little ones! Im sorry you dont get to go to the festival, I know you wanted to but, but- the mother didnt have time to finish, they were gone to their rooms. They bound up the stairs and stopped in the stretched hallway. WingSpan looked down the halls both ways. Servants were talking contentedly. I studied the boards in the ceiling, the forth board is loose, you can pull that down and there is a door, use this key to unlock it, his pale hand held out a small key on a chain and handed it to MoonBeam. She held it tightly in her hand and her white wings started to flutter. MoonBeam! Control them! He said sternly, she stopped almost suddenly. Anyway, when you unlock it, you will find that it leads to the roof, meet me there and we can go to the festival, I cant wait to see the Heula Team preform, and the food! Okay, go prepare yourself, dont let the servants catch you! He waved his hand and one of the servants came to him, then she leaped into her room and latched the door. Okay okay! I got to get ready! she changed out of her bright yellow dress and slipped on a white tunic with brown pants, then someone knocked on the door. Miss MoonBeam! Would you want a glass of water? she started to sweat. Her feet became cold. No! Um, Im going to bed! she looked over at all the lit candles, then added quickly, With the candles still a-flame! Yes Miss MoonBeam. she heard footsteps go down the steps. She quietly washed her face in the bowl beside her bead then jumped to the fourth board above her bed, it came loose. She fluttered her wings to stay in the air, then pulled the key out of her sock. She lunged it through the key-hole and the small door creaked open and she barely squeezed through. Once out the door she saw WingSpan sitting down on a piece of cobblestone. Okay, hold my hand sis! he held out his hand while standing up. She smiled and put her hand in her brothers. They spread their wings and jumped up into the sky. Then, plunged earthward into the trees. They let each others hands go rite before they were flying above the trees. MoonBeam let her arm loose and it skimmed the tree-tops. An owl cooed somewhere and she smiled, This is going to be great! Then, the trees disappeared, and in front of them were the lights of the festival.
